Smoky Skies, Altered Lives, series in InvestigateWest

This months-long investigation considers how wildfire smoke is affecting many aspects of American life, including health, economics, workplace safety, and governance. But despite the fact that summers are getting hotter, drier, and more prone to fire, little is being done to protect citizens, especially the most vulnerable. This multi-part series ran at the height of the 2020 wildfire season, one of the worst on record, and won several awards in the 2020 Society of Professional Journalists Region 10 Excellence in Journalism Contest.
